Full guides for these are still being written, but they come up often enough to mention here:

Most people don't pick a route in isolation — they pick it against how much time they have and what season it is. If you've got a full year and no fixed end date, the Big Lap is the obvious default; it's built to absorb detours and long stops without needing to be re-planned. If you've got a fixed window — a few weeks of leave, or a defined stretch before you need to be somewhere — one of the regional loops does a better job of delivering a complete, satisfying trip without leaving you feeling like you only saw half of it.
Season matters more than most first-timers expect when comparing routes. Savannah Way and the Red Centre both effectively close themselves off outside their listed windows — not through any rule, but through heat, closure and plain misery. Tasmania is the one route on this list that's genuinely workable most of the year, which is part of why it's often the one people do as a standalone trip rather than folding it into the main lap.
Not sure which one fits your dates and rig? A Route Season-Check is built for exactly this decision. See Services & Pricing for the full list.
