Information we collect

When you create a free account, we store your email address and a securely hashed password — we never store your password in plain text and can't recover it if you forget it, only reset it. If you contact us through the form on our Contact page, we store the name, email address and message you provide in order to respond to you. If you enquire about or purchase a paid service listed on Services & Pricing, we store the details of that request — your route, dates and any preferences you share — so we can deliver it.

We also automatically record basic technical information with account creation and contact submissions, including your IP address, for fraud prevention and to keep the site secure.

How we use it

Account information is used to let you log in and to save routes, camps and gear notes to your account. Contact form submissions are used only to respond to your message and are not used for marketing without your separate consent. Paid service details are used only to deliver the service you've requested, and are kept only as long as needed to do so and to maintain a reasonable business record of the transaction.

What we don't do

We don't sell your personal information to third parties. We don't share your email address or message content outside of what's needed to operate this site. We don't send marketing email unless you've explicitly opted in, and every marketing email includes a working unsubscribe link.

Cookies

We use a session cookie to keep you logged in after you sign in. It's essential to the functioning of your account and isn't used for advertising tracking. We don't currently use third-party analytics or advertising cookies on this site; if that changes, this policy will be updated to reflect it before it happens.

Data retention

Account data is kept for as long as your account remains active. If you delete your account, we remove your personal information from active systems, though a residual copy may persist briefly in backups before those are cycled out. Contact messages are retained long enough to handle any follow-up, then periodically cleared.

Your rights

You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information at any time by emailing [email protected]. We'll respond within a reasonable timeframe and confirm once a deletion request has been actioned.

Where your data is stored

Account and contact data is stored on servers used to operate this site and its shared backend. We take reasonable technical measures to keep that data secure, including encrypted password storage and access controls limiting who within our team can view it. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security, but we treat your data with the same care we'd want applied to our own.

Children's privacy

This site is not directed at children, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we'll remove it.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time; material changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
