Queensland's first legal casino
The Star Gold Coast opened in 1985 as Jupiters Casino, becoming Queensland's first legal casino and one of the defining additions to the Gold Coast's skyline at the time. It was rebranded The Star Gold Coast in 2012 under its current operator, The Star Entertainment Group.
Why it fits an east-coast run
Broadbeach sits right in the middle of the Gold Coast's beach strip, so a stop here slots naturally into a coastal leg without pulling you far off the highway — useful if you're already stringing together beach towns between Byron Bay and Brisbane.
What's changed nearby
The wider Gold Coast casino landscape is shifting, with Queensland's newer Star Brisbane precinct opening further north — worth keeping in mind if you're planning a two-city Queensland stretch rather than a single stop.
