A different kind of casino floor
Crown Sydney's hotel opened in 2020, with its casino gaming following in 2022 after a longer regulatory process than most Australian casino approvals. Unlike the other properties in this guide, its gaming floor is restricted to hotel guests and members rather than open to walk-in visitors off the street — a condition of how it was licensed.
Why it's still worth a look
Even if the gaming floor itself is members-only, the tower is one of the more striking additions to the Sydney skyline in recent years, and the Barangaroo precinct around it — parkland, harbour walks, restaurants — is worth the stop on its own if your lap brings you through Sydney.
Two casinos, one city
For most of Sydney's history The Star was the city's only full casino; Crown Sydney's 2022 opening was the first real change to that arrangement in decades — an interesting bit of context if you're comparing the two on the same trip.
