One of the earliest legal casinos in the country
Darwin's casino opened in the late 1970s as one of the first legal casinos anywhere in Australia, and it has operated under several different names and owners since — most recently as Mindil Beach Casino Resort. The beachfront setting has been the constant through all of it.
Timing it with the markets
Mindil Beach is best known for its Thursday and Sunday evening sunset markets during the dry season (roughly May to October) — the same window that suits a Top End caravan leg generally, so a casino stopover here can line up naturally with a market night.
